Repentance: The Biblical Path to Restoration

True repentance is a transformative act of the heart, turning from sin to God with sincere sorrow and a commitment to change. It involves confessing sins, seeking forgiveness through Jesus Christ, and striving to live in obedience to God’s Word. As Scripture says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9, ESV).

To repent properly:

2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Fasting: Drawing Near to God

Fasting, when done biblically, is a spiritual discipline to humble yourself before God, seek His guidance, and grow in faith. It’s not about earning God’s favor but aligning your heart with His will. Jesus taught, “When you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret” (Matthew 6:17-18, ESV).

To fast the biblical way:

Isaiah 58:6: “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?”

Giving Your Life to Christ

Surrendering to Christ means accepting Him as Savior and Lord, believing in His death and resurrection for your salvation. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, ESV). Confess your sins, believe in Jesus, and invite Him into your life.

Romans 10:9: “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

A prayer to begin: “Lord Jesus, I confess my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for me and rose again. Come into my life, be my Savior, and lead me. Amen.”

Pursuing Holiness

Holiness is living set apart for God, reflecting His character. God commands, “You shall be holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16, ESV). Pursue holiness daily through the Holy Spirit’s power.

Hebrews 12:14: “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.”
